Treatment overview
Periodontal tissue regeneration
Periodontal regeneration aims to rebuild selected supporting tissues that have been lost because of periodontitis. The techniques are used only in specific types of periodontal defects, such as many infrabony defects and selected furcation involvements, where periodontal tissue loss affects the support of the tooth.
The clinical result depends on the type of defect, periodontitis symptoms, oral hygiene, smoking, and the patient's maintenance program. When indicated, regenerative treatment can improve the prognosis and long-term stability of affected teeth, including loose teeth or teeth with reduced support.
