Treatment overview

Periodontal plastic surgery for gum recession

Gum recession can be both an aesthetic and functional concern, especially when exposed tooth roots are sensitive to cold or brushing. Periodontal plastic surgery uses surgical techniques designed to cover exposed roots where possible and improve the quality of the soft tissues around teeth.

Similar techniques may also be used around implants or before prosthetic treatment, when the soft-tissue profile needs support for function, hygiene, smile shape, or aesthetics.
