Treatment overview

Periodontitis treatment and maintenance

Periodontitis affects the supporting tissues around the teeth, including the gums, periodontal ligament, root surface, and alveolar bone. Periodontitis symptoms may include gum inflammation, bleeding gums, and, in more advanced cases, loose teeth. It may be localized or generalized, and its severity depends on the amount of tissue and bone support already lost.

Treatment may include non-surgical periodontal therapy, surgical treatment when indicated, and a long-term maintenance plan. Regular rechecks are essential because periodontal stability depends on both professional care and consistent daily oral hygiene.
