Treatment overview

Minor oral surgery

Modern dental techniques often allow a damaged tooth to be preserved, even when there has been extensive destruction or loss of supporting tissues. In some cases, however, extraction or another minor oral surgery procedure is necessary after clinical assessment.

Minor oral surgery may include simple extractions, more complex removal of impacted third molars, or preparation of the alveolar ridge before removable prosthetic treatment. When chewing discomfort is related to a surgical or restorative need, techniques such as alveoloplasty or vestibuloplasty are selected only when they support the patient's future restoration plan.
