Treatment overview

Retreatment after a previous root canal

Some teeth that have already received root canal treatment may later show a previous root canal problem, with persistent or recurring symptoms such as tooth pain, tenderness, swelling, or signs of tooth infection. These symptoms may appear after a period of time following the initial treatment.

When the tooth is considered restorable, endodontic retreatment allows the previous treatment to be reassessed and repeated by a specialized dentist, with the goal of controlling infection and preserving the natural tooth.
